The Fallen Heroes pictured below represent the tragic human cost of the British Forces campaign in Afghanistan since October 2001 and the conflict in Iraq since March 2003.

Servicemen from Derbyshire who have given their lives in active service in Afghanistan include Drummer Thomas Wright who died in June, 2007, aged 21, Private Ben Ford, who was just 18 when he died in September, 2007 and Private Brian Tunnicliffe who died in September, 2007, aged 33.

In Iraq our fallen heroes include Corporal Russell Aston, who died in June, 2003, aged 30. Marine Jason Hylton died in September, 2006, aged 33 and Leading Aircraftman Martin Beard, aged 19, died in August 2007.
